Howard Wakefield
Howard Wakefield is Head of Underwriting for Premium Credit.
His direct responsibilities encompass the underwriting of all our commercial advances and the authorisation of intermediary partners. This has involved the prudent and effective balancing of Premium Credit’s low-risk business approach with funding requirements from our supporting brokers on an ongoing basis. Howard played a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth transition of the company’s core underwriting functions during periods of corporate change, including our MBO and subsequent acquisitions by MBNA and Bank of America.
Howard previously held the position of Credit Manager at the UK subsidiary of Security Pacific where he gained valuable experience across a wide range of financial products, both retail and commercial in nature. Prior to this, he fulfilled a variety of roles at US bank Manufacturers Hanover Trust. These included Branch Manager, Cellular Phone Division Manager and Contract Hire Manager. Howard began his extensive and wide-ranging career with other companies such as Lloyds and Scottish Finance, St. Margaret’s Trust and Barclays Bank.
Howard has more than 30 years’ experience in financial services and has been an integral part of Premium Credit’s management team since our earliest beginnings.
