Ahfar Bokhari
Ahfar Bokhari is Head of Compliance and Operational Risk Management for Premium Credit.
He manages business risk throughout the organisation and is responsible for making sure that the company meets all legal and regulatory obligations. Ahfar has successfully implemented procedures to ensure that Premium Credit complied fully with all its responsibilities under the Sarbanes Oxley Act. He has also introduced a risk-based approach to reviews so that the control environment within the organisation can be effectively gauged and maintained to the required standards on an ongoing basis.
Before joining the company in 2004, Ahfar held the position of Group Internal Audit Manager at Hitachi Capital PLC and transformed an outmoded audit function into a modern, efficient risk-based operation. His commercial background also includes time spent at a consortium delivering audit services to NHS Trusts and Health Authorities, where he acted as a consultant and managed annual audit plans. Prior to this, Ahfar was Internal Audit Manager for the specialist mortgage lender, Britannic Money Limited. Here, he successfully established an effective audit function from scratch and notably managed some significant key projects for the company, including the application for a Banking Licence and adherence to Turnbull and the Combined Code. He began his career as an external auditor with Price Waterhouse, one of the biggest global operators in business advice.
In total, Ahfar has more than 18 years’ relevant business experience under his belt and is a fully qualified Chartered Accountant (Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales).
